Dog days of summer!

I am counting down the days until vacation... three more weeks! This has been a frustratingly discouraging summer! I had intended and counted on the summer months to get some work done in the lab. But, set-backs and failed experiments have thrown kinks left and right. God is teaching me patience this summer, that's for sure!

Not quite certain where vacation will lead me. I was really hoping to get away. But, right now, sitting at home, watching TV, and taking afternoon naps sound real good, too!

Sigh... I do not mean to sound depressing. I just need to remember to keep my eyes on what's important... Jesus!

Here are verses to a new song that has really touched me of late...

Captivate Us (Watermark)

Your face is beautiful
And Your eyes are like the stars
Your gentle hands have healing
There inside the scars
Your loving arms they draw me near
And Your smile it brings me peace
Draw me closer oh my Lord
Draw me closer Lord to Thee

Captivate us, Lord Jesus
Set our eyes on You
Devastate us with Your presence
Falling down
And rushing river, draw us nearer
Holy fountain consume us with You
Captivate us Lord Jesus, with You

Your voice is powerful
And Your words are radiant bright
In Your breath and shadow
I will come close and abide
You whisper love and life divine
And Your fellowship is free
Draw me closer O my Lord
Draw me closer Lord to Thee

Let everything be lost in the shadows
Of the light of Your face
Let every chain be broken from me
As I’m bound in Your grace
For Your yoke is easy, Your burden is light
You’re full of wisdom, power and might
And every eye will see You

Tell me about frustration, I know how that feels. My TV broke, phone is dead, clock stops running and I am too lazy to get a new TV and have the cables hooked again for extra charges (they removed my cable connection since I discontinued paying for it after my TV died). I am not motivated to get a TV because I do not want to pay for the lousy programs. If only I know how to get free internet TVs with the offering of HBOs and Star movies only.

So, MIT I know summer can swift away quickly in a blink. A lot of my planning fell through too. First of all, my recent get-away didn't happen, then two of my friends want to tag along to my foreign trip have different opinions. My family doesn't seem motivated to plan for this summer at all and I do not want to nudge them. Seems like the latest I can do anything will be in August. Oh, well.

This is a beautiful verse..I am still trying to comtemplate this quote "what is worth living for is also what's worth dying for". What do you think of it?

Can you really get away for at least a week without worrying too much about the experiments in the labs? Have one of your students keep an eye on that and leave for somewhere. When are you visitng Prague or Switzerland?

I think I'd be so happy to live without TV... at least for as long as the weather permits outdoor activities.

I'm not very optimistic about any travels outside of the US. Barring any last minute miracles (I do strongly believe in them, by the way), we will most likely head north to Maine. But, I think I will be just as content to stay at home and rest for a week! Two of my students will be finished for the summer. Only one will remain there in my absence.

Elisabeth Elliot's husband, Jim Elliot, was a missionary in the 60's. He and a few other men were brutally killed in Ecuador by men these missionaries were trying to reach with the gospel. Jim Elliot also wrote, "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." Similarly, this quote, "What is worth living for is also worth dying for," talks about one's relationship with Jesus and the faith in Him.
