End of the semester

Tomorrow is the last day of classes.  Then, the students enter a week of final exams for the real end of the semester and the start of summer vacation.  It will be summer vacation for some.  For those who are graduating, it'll be entering the real world of employment or more school (professional or graduate).

It'll be pretty much be the same for me.  I will have two research students in the lab.  I will also be working on a grant proposal due at the end of June.  First, I will be spending 2+ glorious weeks with Baby Bunny.

婆婆 is going on vacation.  She leaves soon after the week of final exams and returns at the end of May.

Baby Bunny and I will have some fun day trips.  She and I will stroll through parks, looking at and smelling pretty flowers.  Maybe we'll go to the local farm and look at sheep and goats.  Maybe she'll learn some more signs.

At weigh-in today, Bun Bun is exactly 20.6 pounds.  She's gaining weight steadily as she should.  She is very active and just figured out that instead of crawling from point A to B, it's a lot easier just to walk.  Yup.  She's been walking lots.

Stand Up!

Baby Bunny has been working really hard!  Her physical therapist has missed several sessions recently due to illnesses.  But, when Miss Rachel sees her tomorrow, she will surely be impressed.

It's known that climbing stairs is good for toddlers.  It builds up core strength.  So, any chance she gets, Bun Bun has been climbing.  She'd grab anyone's hand so she can be lead out of the living room, through the dinning room and kitchen, and to the stair case.  I think because of all this climbing, she has gotten strong enough to stand from sitting without grabbing or holding on to anything in order to pull herself up.  She does it slowing.  First, she straightens her legs with her hands on the floor.  Then she slowly lets go, shifts her weight backwards, and stands up.  She's up with a big smile and claps to give herself a big hand.  What a big girl!

Don't grow up too fast, Baby Bunny!

Swimming and Sunday School

Last Saturday was Bun Bun's last swimming class, for now.  She did great and started to really enjoy being in the water.  Daddy threw a rubber ducky for her to "swim" toward.  She actually got the idea of swinging her little body out and kicking her little legs.  We'll definitely sign her up for more classes this summer.

Sundays are special days for Mr. Jesus.  Of course, we have been bringing Bun Bun to church with us but just have her sit with us.  Being 21 months old, Bun Bun doesn't quite understand the idea of being quiet and sitting still for the 45-or-so minutes while the pastor delivered the sermons.  We've been trying to keep her quiet with snacks.  Every now and then, she lets out shrills of joy or wave the bulletin up and down... a bit distracting to say the least.  This Sunday, Daddy tried taking her to Sunday School.  She did really well.  She didn't even cry for Mama.  She played blocks with the other babies and sang songs with the other children.  Bun Bun did become slightly distracting when she wanted to keep playing with the blocks rather than sit and listen to the Bible story with the other children.  I've been hoping and wishing she'd make some friends and socialize with other little kids.  This summer, I plan to enroll her in a Mommies Morning Out program where she'll be able to interact with people outside of the house.

Lots of plans for the summer.

Easter

Our little Easter joy!  Bun Bun doesn't own many dresses.  Her mama, being practical, is usually about comfort and dresses her in sweat pants and T-shirts.  Easter was a special day for a cute dress.  I think the little sweater makes the outfit extra cute.

I think she's got some modeling look.  Don't you?
