Longwood Gardens, part 2

Hot day today!  Since we had to get up early for OT, we might as well take advantage of the cooler morning for an outing.  Off we went to Longwood Gardens, again!  This time, we strolled through the outdoor gardens and saw lots more flowers, ferns, trees, and flowering bushes.  The roses are in full bloom right about now.

The Trouble with Shoes

Bun Bun got new orthotics last week since she outgrew her first one.  These plastic molds wrap her ankles and help her walk.  The tight squeeze gives her sensory input.  The firm mold help stabilize her loose ligaments and prevent her feet from "rolling" inward.

Bun Bun is starting to outgrow her little sneakers, too.  I thought it would be appropriate to buy her sandals (those athletic looking ones) for the summer since she would have to wear socks with the orthotics.

Our first pair had to be returned.  They had velcro fasteners which she quickly figured out how to peel and take off her shoes.  The second pair had those single pull elastic laces with a fancy fastener that I was sure Bun Bun won't figure out soon how they worked.  They were hot pink water shoes.  Well, we had to return those, too, since the soles provided no traction.  Sigh...

For now, we're still wearing our old trusty lace-up sneakers.  I put in an order for some sandals from Amazon.  They will arrive sometime next week.  Stay tuned!

Fun with Bun Bun

This being the last week, full-time, with Baby Bunny, I wanted to soak it all in.  I had all sorts of plans with her.  I wanted to take her to the park and let her swing in the swings.  Then, the rains came.  We finally got a nice couple of days.  So, off we went to Tot Lot - a playground in Media designed for kids 3 years and younger.  She had so much fun!  She got to see other babies, too!

The girl REALLY loves mirrors!

On Tuesday, we trekked to Longwood Gardens to see flowers!  Pretty flowers!  It rained for most of the day.  We caught a break here and there, but ended up spending most of our time in the Conservatory.  Bun Bun had fun in the Children's garden, playing with water in the fountains.  I ended up buying a membership to the place so we can go back and see the rest of the big trees, pretty outdoor flowers, big ponds, the funny-shaped hedges, and the big tall fountain shows.

10 teeth!

Baby Bunny now has exactly 10 teeth.  She's ready to chump down on some real food.  We've been giving her a lot of fruits for snacks - mostly chunks of oranges, nanners, and kiwi.  Lately though, she has not been so crazy about nanners.  When the kiwis are not so ripe and a little sour, she would spit those out, too.  The varieties of fruits are a little skimpy around here, especially now.  Later in the summer, when the peaches come in, we'll have to give that a try.  Bun Bun's latest craze is strawberries (from California) and mango (when nice and ripe).  If only we lived in Taiwan with all sorts of tropical fruits...

Methinks Baby Bunny learned the sign for "kitty cat".  It's really cute!

Walking!

The video below is quite long.  You can see what a good walker she has become.  Baby Bunny has been doing lots of walking.  She has also gotten pretty agile in squatting down to pick up things from the floor.  She's playing with a folding hanger.  It's one of the remnant drug company gifts that my dad had gotten years ago, either he picked it up at a conference he attended or it was given to him by a pharmaceutical rep.

In a couple of weeks, we will start 6 sessions of physical therapy in the pool at the Children's Hospital.  We were there on Thursday for a pre-evaluation.  Baby Bunny was so happy walking around the huge place.  And, there were mirrors!  The girl loves mirrors!

Go, Phillies!

Baby Bunny went to her very first baseball game on Wednesday!

The Phillies played the Cleveland Indians and won the game, 2 to 6!  We were able to stay through the middle of the 7th inning and probably could have stayed longer.  We even saw a home-run!  It was very exciting.  I think Baby Bunny was more excited being around all the people, colors, sounds, and smells (peanuts, hotdogs, etc).

Two glorious weeks

Now that 婆婆 is on vacation, I get to be a full time mama for 2 glorious weeks!  Hooray!

Baby Bunny updates:

1.  She's a walker!  We'll be getting new orthotics since she's outgrown this current one.  Once they arrive, it's time to shop for a new pair of shoes.

2.  Progress is being made in speech.  She has been signing "baby" consistently.  So, her signing vocabulary now consists of that and "doggie", "more", and "food".  She can definitely understand more than she is able to express.  She still only says "ba ba ba ba", but lately "wa wo" has popped up.

3.  She can blow a whistle!

4.  This summer, we'll be joining a physical therapy pool group.

This is what happens when you leave Baby Bunny alone for a couple of minutes!
